Guidance Counseling

MRA Counseling Services aims to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program to meet each student's academic, personal, social, and college advising needs. The Counselor should be primarily a student advocate who supports students and works to maximize every student's academic, creative, and social potential. In partnership with teachers, administrators, and parents, the Counselor works to help “prepare our students for responsible participation in a global society.”

The Counseling Department does not work in isolation; rather, they partner with others involved in a student’s development of heart and mind, including parents, the Campus Spiritual Life Team, teaching faculty, athletic and artistic coaches, and others. They provide proactive leadership that engages all stakeholders in delivering programs and services critical to students' mental, academic, spiritual, social, and professional success in school.

FORMATIVE - Guided by a belief in Imago Dei, our team sees academics and the college application process as opportunities for spiritual growth and formation. This approach values who students are and will become and emphasizes the work that God is performing in their lives.

RELATIONAL - Our team seeks to develop working relationships with each student by supporting students from the elementary through graduation. By dividing the caseload according to the grade level, we extend these relationships to families, siblings, and beyond the gates of MRA.

CONTEXTUALIZED - Each student is unique, and so is God’s will for their life. We devote time to mining these individual contexts in order to provide the best counsel possible while at MRA. We hope each student and family find exciting options that fit their circumstances and goals best.
