Softball - Varsity Girls
Coach Craft grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and attended D’Iberville High School. She lettered in soccer and softball for four years and in her senior year of high school was named the 2012 Female Athlete of the Year. Coach Craft attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to play soccer and softball and was also chosen to be on the 2014 Junior College National Team as a catcher and infielder. She continued both sports careers at Belhaven University where she was named an All-American as a third baseman in 2016. Coach Craft was a member of the All-Academic teams for all four years of college on both soccer and softball teams at MGCCC and Belhaven University. Now, coach Craft works full-time for the sports ministry Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the Jackson-Metro area, equipping high school athletes to use their platform and influence as an athlete for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Taylor Surrento enters her first season as head Softball coach at Madison-Ridgeland Academy. Born and raised in a military family, Taylor graduated from Northeastern High School located in Northeastern North Carolina in 2012 where she lettered all four years as a pitcher/2nd baseman. She received First Team Northeastern Coastal Conference and Daily Advance First Team accolades with career stats as a pitcher that included a 1.18 ERA. She moved onto D2 JUCO, College of the Albermarle, where she threw a program’s first no hitter and earned selection as Region 10 All Conference. She spent her Sophomore year at D1 JUCO, St. Johns River State Community College (SJR), where she earned Region 8 Second Team All-Conference honors. After graduating SJR with an Associate’s Degree in General Education, Surrento continued her education and softball career at Belhaven University in Jackson Mississippi. However, a shoulder injury forced a medical redshirt her first year at BU. Throughout her career at Belhaven, she was named to ASC Preseason Watch List, SSAC All-Academic, NCCAA Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week, ASC All-Academic Team with career stats that included a 2.97 ERA in 205 innings recording 165 strikeouts. During her junior year she was a major contributor in the circle, helping BU to the NCCAA National Championship.Coach Surrento graduated Belhaven University in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Sport’s Administration. Since graduating from BU, Taylor has worked as a coach locally in providing pitching lessons, and recently was an assistant coach of the 18U Mississippi Prospects Softball Team.
